Waterschap
de Dommel
We were received by Istvan Koller, he gave us a presentation that lasted over an hour. Here he told the various tasks of the company. They ensure that there is adequate, clean and safe water is nearby. They do this to manage through the groundwater, purify sewage and provide clean water in ditches, streams and rivers. Water is and remains one of the global challanges and Waterschap de dommel here also join to improve this and they continue innovate as a company. They are always busy with new plans and one of them is here in Eindhoven on Stijp s. As Istvan told of these plans, it would be a purifying greenhouse.
Has, Den bosch
There are several new techniques due to the greenhouse at the HAS in Den Bosch, for example, a full climate system applied in the field. They want to grow this as sustainable as possible. They want a cultivation look at how much energy is required to waste nothing. They are also concerned with the effects of different types of light. See if they can stimulate the growth and development of certain crops. We had a guided tour through the greenhouse, in the climate, but also by the garden with different types of growth of plants, flowers and vegetables.

KWR
The KWR is a world class research laboratory that specializes in water purification research, located in Nieuwe Rijn.

We planned this visit as a part of our project activities as we wanted to talk to some professionals to get their ideas on our water filter product.

During the visit we were given a tour of their labs and further explanations of what they do at the KWR. We managed to take some photos during the tour which are being shown on the left.

This visit really showed us the different ways water filtration was done on a mass scale, and also provided us with some ideas for our own product.
The Minor organized a tour for all of the students, it was a tour through Klokgebouw. The tour was guided by a couple of students form International LifeStyle Studies, they started to tell us about 3 different kind of trends, we all do it and we don’t realize it. These trends are customization, privacy and flexibility.
They only let us see a few designs out of hundreds, with every product they explained us how the products work and on which trend it is related to. Sometimes the designers were standing beside their product and we could ask our questions immediately otherwise we could go back after the tour.

SHAPEWAYS
Our impression of Shapeways is modern and young company. The overall concept they carry out is unique. This because Shapeways involves customers to the process and its activities. We think this and 3D printing in general is a growing market. More and more companies are active on this market and more and more people get to know about it. So we are convinced 3D printing is going to be booming in the near future. And this will happen even faster than most people think. Therefore we are excited about the fact that we are already in touch with it, learning about it and got the chance tot take a look behind the scenes of an innovative company like Shapeways.
